Pop Tabs

Since 2000, recycling little aluminum tabs on the tops of soda cans has generated over $300,000 for the Ronald McDonald House.

Revenue from recycling these little bits of aluminum helps us keep families close to the resources they need to thrive.  Saving pop tabs is easy! They’re compact, with a high concentration of recyclable aluminum.

Thank you to Great Clips for being our Official Collection Site of Pop Tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin, Inc.

Thank you for Pulling Together for the Ronald McDonald House!

Join us on May 20th, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. for Tab Toss Day!

Congratulations to our community for collecting 8,561 pounds of pop tabs on Tab Toss Day 2016 – 2,293 more pounds than last year! Our hosts and recycling sponsor, United Milwaukee Scrap, Schulz’s Recycling, Inc. and Midwest Forman Recycling graciously rounded up the market price as a donation. In total, our generous sponsors, attendees and recycled aluminum raised more than $18,000 to support our mission! Thanks to everyone who collected pop tabs and supported this annual event!

Here is how to get started:

1. Place a collection container in a central location at home, work, or school. Pop tab collection houses are available for pick up at the Ronald McDonald House (we suggest a donation of 50 cents per small house and $3 per large house). You can also be creative with your containers by using an ice cream bucket, large pretzel bin, etc.

Print container labels:

2. When your collection container is full you have several options:

  • Plan to attend Tab Toss Day on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at United Milwaukee Scrap,
3100 West Concordia Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53216.
  • Drop off your tabs at any Great Clips location in the Greater Milwaukee Area.
  • Drop your tabs off at the Ronald McDonald House on Watertown Plank Road in Wauwatosa, any day between 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • Take the pop tabs to your local recycling center and have the check made out to Ronald McDonald House Charities and mail it to 8948 Watertown Plank Road, Milwaukee, WI 53226.

Little things can mean a lot..

Even the youngest daisy troop member can make the world a better place. Please collect pop tabs and donate them to the Ronald McDonald House. It’s easy and clean, unlike empty cans, they don’t need to be rinsed.
